Butterfields Urns, Keepsakes and Jewellery
The death of a loved one can leave a void which is very hard to fill. With that in mind you may wish to keep your loved one's ashes in a beautiful urn to honour and cherish them forever.
Here at Butterfields we offer an extensive collection of urns and we are sure there will be one to fit your taste. In this article we are going to briefly explain the difference between each material to help you with making the important decision of which one is right for you.
Brass Urns
Due to the sturdiness of metal urns they make a fantastic option for both indoor and outdoor use. As metal can withstand harsh conditions these urns have no problem being buried if that is what you would like to do. Alternatively if you would like to display the urn indoors our metal urns are some of the most decorative and beautiful pieces you will see. Available in a variety of stunning shapes from birds, hearts and stars to your more traditional urn shape.
Ceramic Urns
Ceramic urns have been made for thousands of years. When archaeologists have excavated ancient sites they have said that pottery remains the most intact. Now with modern techniques we are able to offer beautiful ceramic urns in a variety of colours and shapes. One feature in our collection is the Chameleon Range which have been treated with a layer of metallic paint which shimmers and changes tone depending on how the light catches it. Another special range we offer is by the artist Geert Kunen. Hand-made urns that are finished in bronze, truly stunning to look at.
Crystal Urns
If you are looking for something truly unique then a crystal urn is worth considering. Each urn is hand-blown meaning that no two urns will be the same. Fashioned from the finest quality Bohemian crystal each urn has it's own unique pattern of colour and finish.
Fibreglass Urns
The nature of this material makes fibreglass urns not only highly decorative, but also very long-lasting and robust. These urns are therefore ideal to place in a columbarium niche, and are an affordable alternative to other urn materials.
Wooden Urns
If you are looking for something a bit more discreet to keep at home, our wooden urns are another beautiful option. Specially manufactured by a family company in Spain, our wooden urns are characterised by their extraordinary quality and finish, and furthermore are highly resistant due to special treatment. Naturally beautiful with a feeling of warmth.
Marble Urns
Marble urns are again a unique product. No two urns are the same as they are made from a natural stone so colours can vary as well as the crystalline structure and veins. Marble urns are very strong but can still be elegant in their design.
Biodegradable Urns
Our non-permanent biodegradable urns are perfect for releasing ashes into nature. Made from 100% biodegradable organic material, they slowly decompose over time releasing the ashes into the ground and the urn returns to the soil. Our biodegradable urns are also suitable for funerals at sea as the urn will decompose naturally.
Butterfly Keepsakes
Our beautiful butterfly keepsakes will hold and preserve a token of ashes as a lasting memento. The metamorphosis that the little insect undertakes from caterpillar to butterfly has been compared to the transformation from the physical to the spiritual. It's a symbol for immortality and rebirth.
Ash Jewellery
For many people an urn is a nice thing to have but it is unlikely you will take it with you everywhere you go. If you feel that you would like your loved one close to you at all times please take a look at our Ash Jewellery Range. Our jewellery is made from high quality silver and filled with a small part of a loved one's ashes. They come in a variety of shapes and the stylish designs and high quality finish ensures these pieces are not recognisable as ash holders.
