Direct Cremations

A direct cremation is a modern alternative to a traditional cremation service. It is becoming a more popular form of funeral nationwide. The cremation takes place completely separately from the personal farewell, allowing families to have their own special memorial service or celebration of life event at a later point in time and in their own time. If you are wanting to avoid the pomp and ceremony of a traditional funeral service and would prefer something less formal, then this type of funeral is something that may be for you.

Larger nationwide companies are flooding the letterboxes with literature offering funeral plans for this service, but we at Butterfields can offer the same service and our charges are less than these bigger companies. The cremation also takes place in a crematorium locally to you, rather than travelling the length of the country. Your loved one is looked after by us at our chapel of rest and not contracted out to any third-party funeral directors as in the case of some of the larger direct cremation companies. Your loved one’s ashes can be collected for you as in any normal cremation service.
