Fathers Day 2025
Many of us lucky enough to still have our dad’s in our lives, will be celebrating along with them this Sunday - Father’s Day 2025, sending cards and gifts and perhaps gathering as a family to honour a man we love and admire. To those of you this applies to, we here at Butterfields hope you enjoy your celebrations. However, for those people who have lost their father, this day can be a very sad and lonely one.
If you know someone who is struggling with the loss of their dad - no matter how recent that may be - please reach out to them with a token of kindness. On days like this a phone call or kind word can mean so much.
Perhaps you can encourage them to talk about their dad - help them to make it a day of reflection - a day when happy memories come flooding back and are shared with laughter and with joy.
Often it’s our father who moulds our character - teaches us right from wrong, who passes down family values and strong morals. It’s our father who during our formative years protects us from harm, provides for us and nurtures us with his own special brand of loving care.
Your dad may have been the one who carried you up on his shoulders when you were tiny, tucked you into bed at night, taught you to ride a bike, paddled with you at the seaside, gave you your first pocket money, hid your presents under the Christmas tree…he may well have been the man who made your childhood so very precious. Perhaps as you grew up it would be that same man who became your advisor, your confidante, your guiding light and your unconditional friend, a man you were so very proud of.
In some cases this man may not your birth dad - but a step dad or father figure, an uncle, a grandfather, an older brother…. whoever the great man was in your life, please remember him this Father’s Day with a smile and a warm feeling in your heart.
Happy Father’s Day
