Grief At Christmas

Grief at Christmas

Coping with grief at any time of the year is extremely difficult, add in a time of celebration or an anniversary and it can seem almost unbearable for many.

Thinking about what will work best for you beforehand can be helpful and then making your wishes clear to family and friends in advance can eliminate some of the stress leading up to the day.

If you don’t want to put up the Christmas decorations or join in with the usual celebrations, then be guided by what feels right for you. Equally if you want to be surrounded by people and find the distraction of the festivities helps then it’s perfectly fine to enjoy the company of others and to join in with the celebrations, it doesn’t detract from your grief or your love. Take comfort in the little things that help you through.

There will never be a right or wrong way to approach these difficult times, be kind to yourself, allow others to be kind to you.

We wish you peace and love through these difficult times, you are in our thoughts as always.
