At Butterfields, we have a lovely workforce that is loyal and dedicated to doing a fantastic job. We have had a few staff changes recently so we thought it would be a wonderful opportunity to welcome some into their new roles, into the family business and to sadly say goodbye to one of our longest serving members.

Mick Ryder has been with us for 26 years as a Funeral Service Operative and has now decided to take a much deserved, albeit late retirement. We would like to thank him for his years of service with us and to wish him a long and happy retirement.

Chris Reader-Viney has been with us as a permanent member of staff since 2011 as a Funeral Service Operative; he has been responsible for the transportation requirements for all funerals, the maintenance of our fleet of funeral cars and an assistant to our Funeral Directors; David Butterfield and Alan Pearson. Chris has now been appointed as our 3rd Funeral Director and will now have a more hands on role looking after the needs of our clients’ and ensuring their wishes are carried out to the highest standards – as we at Butterfields always strive our utmost to provide.

Chris will be in very good hands as Alan has been with us for almost 3 years now and has a plethora of experience having been a Funeral Director for more than 21 years. David needs no introduction and knows the funeral business like the back of his hand, having grown up in the family business.

Chris is well known in the local community as the Director of Music at St. Margaret’s’ Parish Church, Swinton and has been playing the organ for the church on a permanent basis since 2008.

Hayley Haugen enrolled as a student with The British Institute of Embalmers in 2005. She completed her training and gained her qualification as an embalmer in 2009. Hayley has been our freelance embalmer since 2010. She joined our team full time in June 2016 as our Mortuary Technician.

Hayley carries out her role to an exemplary standard and enjoys helping people at such a difficult time in their lives. She also assists our Funeral Directors with their duties and helps out in all other departments with her hands-on attitude.
